Ellen DeGeneres -Portia-Italian Villa

Welcome to Ellen DeGeneres and Portia's Beautiful Italian villa in the Santa Barbara.
The 13-acre estate, in Santa Barbara, is a restored Tuscany villa with mature gardens that
include olive and eucalyptus trees.
The two story, 10,500 square foot home was built in the late 1920's using locally quarried stone
and sits on  9.8 acres of land.  The living room is 800 square feet.  There are nine fireplaces and
a Roman column that dates from 200 B.C. stands in the gardens.
No need to board a flight to Tuscany when you live pretty close to exact architecture of an
stunning Italian Villa.
Cian!

Modern Glass Retirement Home

The  Glass Retirement home, created by a couple looking for something different.
A retired couple has spent £750,000 and more than a year flattening a rundown bungalow and building their dream home.
Pennie and Charles Denton bought a ramshackle early 20th century home in Swanage, Dorset, in  dilapidated condition for under £400,000 in 2013.

The retired couple, both in their 70s, hired the help of architects who came up an unbelievable design which would see part of the home floating over an tucked-away car parking space.
The nice part about this style living is everything is on one level.

Kitchen Design Ideas

Time to think about renovating your kitchen!  So many ideas and don't where to begin?
Is you style traditional, modern, transitional, country French or  rustic?
I've worked in residential design for quite some time and as a kitchen designer
I believe it's a good idea to do a quick measure of your space and illustrate on
paper your dimensions and basic layout.   When visiting kitchen showrooms be sure
have your rough dimensions and maybe appliance selections .
Ask for a rough design and pricing before committing to a company.
The best companies work with a team and architectural CAD drawings.
Anyone can draw a 20/20 kitchen layout. But few take the time to read over all the
appliances specs and  show specific accessories, plumbing and electrical on the kitchen plan.
The design team will do a complete measure after you commit to them.
Don't be afraid to ask for your color sample and list of all accessories available.
If you have questions on your kitchen project please email me

Ultimate Chef's Kitchen

Hello Friends,   It's been awhile since my last post.  Wanted to share a kitchen project by
Angelo LoScrudato  a  co-worker at Kuche-Cucina ..   The client wanted Angelo to design the ultimate chefs kitchen.   He designed this kitchen using  Pedini "Dune" kitchen cabinets in white lacquer from Italy!  The client ordered the sub zero Pro  refrigerator  and wolf range.    The countertops are carrera marble with full back splash.   On window side there is a stainless steel countertop.     All the elements of a professional  chefs dream kitchen!  Ciao!

Selecting a Stone for Countertops

Hello ! December is almost here and holiday season in full swing.  Have you completed your
home renovation or are you thinking about a project??

Today I wanted to discuss countertops and
products available on the market.  In the past we would  visit the  stone yard for a granite or marble counter top and select one with combined marble coloring.
Today there are dozens of new choices especially in engineered stone, very  durable and long lasting. There is  CeasarStone, which comes in beautiful tones and marble look alikes so easy  to keep clean and looks stunning for years , Dupont Zodiaq quartz  has a calcutta, a favorite ,see link below )
Dupont still manufactures corona and can be back lit.
Many of my recent projects have had a waterfall countertop over one side to the floor.
This requires a strong material and marble tends to be fragile.
I do love my statuary Marble top.  However, it will dull if not treated and stains are apparent and
must be  careful with wine and fruit acids.
There are is concrete fabricators that pour countertops.  Must us an experienced company!
It worth a trip to a large stone yard to educate yourself to materials.
You can get samples and test for durability

Enjoy December and ask questions if you need to know more about stone surfaces
